Can you make a positive difference in the New Year by supporting children and young people in Norfolk through their most difficult times?
Nelson’s Journey is recruiting a Child Bereavement Support Worker to provide support for children and young people following the death of a significant person. The successful candidate will have knowledge and understanding of child development, experience of working directly with children, good assessment skills, and an understanding of how to effectively manage an allocated caseload.
Candidates do not need to have extensive experience of providing bereavement support as training is provided. One of our Support Workers says:
“There are many opportunities for training and to learn at Nelson’s Journey. As part of my continued professional development, the charity supported me to access the Working in Childhood Bereavement course. Having gained this qualification, I was then able to lead on our new Early Support service.”
The post will be based in Little Plumstead, near Norwich, and will include outreach work in other parts of Norfolk. This outreach work is expected to be located across the west of Norfolk, and if the successful candidate lives in that area, then a degree of working from home may be agreed to minimize travel needs.
A willingness to work flexible hours and occasional weekends is required. Access to a vehicle is essential, for which the appropriate mileage rate will be paid. The post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. The successful candidate must be committed to the safeguarding of children and young people. Right to Work in the UK will need to be established. We are an equal opportunities employer.
Nelson’s Journey offers generous annual leave entitlement of 26 days, in addition to bank holidays and public holidays (pro-rata for part-time).
Closing date: 23:59, WEDNESDAY 7 JANUARY
Interview date: THURSDAY 15 JANUARY (at Little Plumstead)
